What’s in Santa’s Bag?? BOOKS!!

Throughout the blogosphere these days, with the ever-increasing numbers of e-books for sale, there is ongoing discussion about friends posting book reviews on behalf of author friends in order to increase their friends’ book sales.  Another prevalent discussion thread claims that many reviews are made by persons who haven’t even read the books being reviewed.

I have my own opinions on these topics, but that’s for another post because this is not a review but a recommendation!  My purpose here is to recommend to you a group of books, any of which would make a great gift and/or stocking stuffer, depending upon your gift budget.

Furthermore, each and every one of the books was authored by a real-life friend of mine and I know that each friend is a great writer!  Suffice it to say, if I didn’t think they were all good reads, I wouldn’t recommend them! Beyond that, many already have won book awards — hey, I hang with some quality folks!

The majority of the books recommended are available in print editions as well as versions for e-readers.  Since you’re already wise enough to follow my reading recommendations, I suspect you’ll be able to find them all without me telling you where or how. If not, by all means leave a comment and I’ll get back with you right away!

So, without further ado, and in no particular order, here’s what should be in Santa’s Book Bag:

Adult Fiction/Non-Fiction:

Shadow Cay by Leona D. Bodie (thriller)

Served Cold by Chuck Waldron (thriller)

The Ibex Trophy by John Cammalleri (historical fiction)

Daydreams and Diaries by Tim Black (non-fiction)

Cracks in the Sidewalk by Bette Lee Crosby (women’s fiction)

Iowa Nice by Ron Wiggins (humor)

Humorous Beat – Actual Funny Police Stories by Bob Morrissey (humor)

Young Adult:

Men of the Cave by Marisette Burgess

Finn’s Ship by Serena Schreiber

Promises, Book One of the Syrenka Series by Amber Garr – just released!

Children’s:

The Adventures of Isaiah James: Beach Boy by Sabrina K. Carpenter

Several of these authors have published other books; these are just their most-recent entries. Better still, all of them have at least one work in progress — great news for the reading public during 2012!

So, there you have it. Just pretend we’re at the water cooler at work together — or in the break room — or at the hair salon — or in an overcrowded aisle at Barnes and Noble on Christmas Eve and you have sweat dripping from your brow because you still haven’t found the right gift … and you’re looking for something good to read or to buy for a gift for so-and-so and you ask me for a recommendation.  I just gave you a whole list of good ones!

You’re welcome 🙂

Writing in German now, are we? Ja! You’ve been talking to Chuck again. I’ve been 45 years in this cultural black hole and don’t do that well. Good to see you back, again. Continue Hermudgeoning.

Ja ja, Arch! But, I don’t know how to say “I’m sorry” in German, unfortunately, because I’m sorry for not replying sooner! I don’t really have a new flame; it’s just that 2011 tried to go down in flames! lol…. See my next post; you’ll understand. That is if you still love me!

Thank you for this very complete list! I have heard good things about Cracks in the Sidewalk and now that you’ve confirmed its value, I think I’ll look into it! 🙂

  3. Brenda says:

Thank you for finishing my holiday shopping list for me, much appreciated.

My pleasure, Brenda! If you have any more YA purchases to make, I just updated the post with a new release: “Promises, Book One of the Syrenka Series” by our own Amber Garr! It’s getting great reviews.
